When Jesus came in "the fullness of time." (Gal. 4:4-5) One PREPARATION God made ( anticipating Christ's coming) was the Greek language. It was the first time since the tower of Babel, that man had a common tongue.
Not only was it a common tongue, but some scholars say it was "the richest and most delicate that the world has seen...the language which can best express the highest thoughts and worthiest feelings of the intellect and heart." (The Life and Epistles of St. Paul, Conybeare and Howson).
Now, the Greek word used most often for Church is, "ekklesia."
MANY people think of the Church as a Building or Organization. It is NEITHER! Ekklesia means: "the assembly of the called out people". Thus the translators' use of "church" is unfortunate. Assembly, Gathering or even Meeting would have been much better…. So, you see: You CAN'T Go to church; Rather: the Church Gathers together, THEN it's The Church!
