Now, as if further proof was needed. . .
Even Christ made
paid ministry look really bad with his talk about "hirelings in the flock" in John 10:11-13... and He was NOT alone; here are other References:
1. Christ's revealing statements about "hirelings in the flock" (those who preach for money) - John 10:11-13
2. The Saving of souls is not to come at a price or for reward - Isaiah 45:13
3. Money or reward that is received for preaching the gospel is described as "filthy lucre" - 1 Peter 5:2
4. Religious leaders wrongly preach for money while claiming that God is with them - Micah 3:11
5. The Gospel is given free -- without price - Isaiah 55:1-2; Mat 10:8
6. For money's sake, false doctrines are taught which corrupts large numbers of people and must be stopped - Titus 1:11
7. Christ reacts severely toward those who make money in the house of the Lord - Mark 11:15, Luke 19:45, John 2:14

A HIRELING misqow,
He that is a hireling (o misqwtov). Old word from misqow, to hire (Mat_20:1) from misqov (hire, wages, Luk_10:7), in N.T. only in this passage. Literally, "the hireling and not being a shepherd" (o misqwtov kai ouk wn poimhn). Note ouk with the participle wn to emphasize the certainty that he is not a shepherd in contrast with mh eiserxomenov in verse Joh_10:1 (conceived case). See same contrast in 1Pe_1:8 between ouk idontev and mh orwntev. The hireling here is not necessarily the thief and robber of verses Joh_10:1, Joh_10:8. He may conceivably be a nominal shepherd (pastor) of the flock who serves only for the money, a sin against which Peter warned the shepherds of the flock "not for shameful gain" (1Pe_5:2). ~Robertson's Word Pictures in the New Testament   © Broadman Press 1932,33, Renewal 1960

The marchaunt,  who makes merchandise of men's souls; bartering them, and his own too, for filthy lucre.

Satan's seed at times work for God - but they are paid: such as Judas who was called "the son of Evil" or as other hirelings (Jn 10:12).

Satan actually loves his children - 2nd Cor. 4:4.

Paul also said: "
What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel" (1 Corinthians 9:18). Peter wrote to the elders: "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind" (1 Peter 5:2).

NOTE: Full-time Ministry is NOT the duty nor the privilege of every Christian. To paraphrase Paul: It's not for everyone!" The Apostles, Paul Timothy, etc. Everyone of them,  "LEFT ALL" to follow Jesus Christ... Could EVERY Believer Leave All? Should they leave all!? NO!
NOTE
: There is NO such "office" as "pastor", a word mentioned only once in the entire New Testament.  It is not an office; it is one of the GIFTS. There is only one True Shepherd, The Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

CERTAINLY the Elder DOES NOT Need a Salary, for he is to be a Married, Family man, holding a full-time job, during the week!
